Module 3 Assignment 3

Q Welcome to this lecture on Emotional Management...given by me, your professor Maria. I hope you enjoy listening to it and that you learn a lot from it! 1. Reflect on how you yourself avoid unpleasant emotions. How can staying present with an unpleasant feeling help you in your self-awareness? 2. Explain the type of sensory data that the following three regions of the brain bring in: • Brainstem • Limbic • Neocortex 3. How does meditation help you to move through that sensory data so that it does not remain unresolved? 4. What are your key takeaways from this lecture? Note: You will be basing your peer responses on this question Note about assignment length: I am not super picky when it comes to assignment length—this because I mainly want to see that you are grasping and understanding the concepts; I usually do not have any issues with students writing succinctly and getting their point across. Sometimes less is more but I understand those who need "a page length" to strive for—here is a general guideline to follow: • This assignment should be about 1 - 2 pages or about 500 - 1000 words (Again remember, I am not doing word counts, I am looking for quality self-reflection and application) • Times New Roman 12 point font preferred. Now respond to TWO of your classmates posts (your answers must be submitted prior to having access to your peers posts) regarding question #4....comment on how it applies to you personally or professionally or respond to some other aspect of their answer that resonates with you. Always keep it positive.? Good Luck!

1. I tend to avoid unpleasant emotions by trying to either distract me or by trying to make myself busy so that I do not have to think about the situations. I tend to take extra works when I am surrounded by negative emotions so that I can keep myself busy enough so that I do not have enough time to think about them. I also, tend to take a walk, talk to a friend or paint so that I can refill myself with positive emotions and keep the negativities away as long as possible. For me, emotions can be extremely overwhelming and I try my best to not let them affect me too much.
